Hellenic Group of Contemporary Music

The Hellenic Group of Contemporary Music was instituted by Theodore Antoniou in February 1967. Its first members have been the most talented musicians of that era with special interests in the contemporary music.

The first appearance of the ensemble was in March 1967 at the Hellenic-American Union during the "Days of Contemporary Music" festival. Since then the Hellenic Group of Contemporary Music has performed hundreds of music works of every aesthetic direction and style, in Greece and abroad, as well as the most representative works of the international repertoire.

It has participated in lots of concerts and Festivals all over the world. The Greek composers of all generations have been included in the repertoire of the Hellenic Group with particular accent in the newer generations, with commissions and world premieres.

For the last decades the Hellenic Group of Contemporary Music collaborates very closely in all the Greek Composers' Union activities.
